NKOTB at MOA

I'm the fill in blogger for a day (Andy). But I had to let you all in on the going's on here.

Thursday morning, Trisha found out that the children she takes care of would not be coming on Friday. That opened her up for the possibility to go to the Mall of American and see first hand the guys in NKOTB. Being the incredible, wonderful, super awesomest husband that I am, I took off Friday from work so I could watch the kids (and Babe, Trisha's parents' dog). With that in mind, I'll give you the quick trip through this and let Trisha write her novel on Monday.

I wrapped up work at 3:30 and headed off to Wally World to grab some necessary groceries and sup for T-Dot. I got back around 4:30 and the lady was off like a dart at roughly 5.

Trish isn't the most directionally blessed individual, so we kept in frequent contact on our new Blackberry Pearls (yes, we're "cool"). So 4 1/2 hours later, she's pulling into Bloomington. She met up with Kim and began scouring the Mall of America, checking out the best routes to do things.

I kept in contact with her as they were ushered out of the mall. Then out of the mall parking lot to an adjacent parking lot, somewhere out in the boonies.

For one reason or another, I had some sleep issues. Maybe I'm just used to her being somewhere on the other side of the continental divide in our king size bed. I'm not sure. Back to the subject, I was still awake at 3 am (and 4 am) and we continued to text, IM and call. At 3:15 they entered the mall to get in line for the "pre-sales" of NKOTB's newest joint, "The Block". They managed to nail down the top 2-3 spots in line, basically ensuring themselves of a chance to meet and get an autograph or 4 from the guys.

Trish had been up for basically 24 hours at this point and was running on adrenaline, as she was very excited about getting the chance to meet her teenage idol. Of course, they had to wait until 10 to get their passes. So they still had 6 hours to wait and another 8 hours for the concert.

Let's cut ahead to her getting the wristband, the lanyard to get in line for the concert and to bolting down to the rotunda to get in line to see the band. She can tell you about seeing Magic Johnson (how the heck is that guy still alive, living with HIV Aids for 17-18 years!!). Long story longer, they were front row, roughly 5 feet away from the mics.

The concert went on, Trish had a blast... bunch of blanks she'll fill in. Then they had the meet and greet. So she got to hug Donnie. Apparently she went a little spastic and had to have Donnie's security remove her from him. But all the guys liked her tattoo... maybe she'll keep the colors since the New Kids liked it??

All in all, she had one heck of a good time as far as I can tell from all our short conversations. She was heading to dinner and to get some sleep (if she can) before returning tomorrow.

The morale of this story is that while she's in love with Donnie, she's coming home to me. AND, I'm a great husband and father who managed to handle all 4 kids and 2 dogs, while still getting them out on a picnic in the park and getting them all to bed at a reasonable hour. Plus they ate fruit and vegetables in their meals (between all the rest of the crap food I fed them!! ;) ).

Love you honey and I'm glad you had such a good time.

Signing off...

Da Papa
